Employers can use the Skilled Worker stream to find foreign workers and recently graduated international students with skills that are needed in Nova Scotia. Employers are only allowed to hire foreign workers if they are unable to fill positions with permanent residents or Canadian citizens.

ELIGIBILITY

In order to apply you must

• Have a full-time, permanent job offer from a company in Nova Scotia
• Have 1 year of work experience related to the job. (Semi-skilled and low-skilled workers must already have six months’ experience with the employer.)
• Be 21 to 55 years old
• Have a high school diploma
• Possess the necessary training, skills, and/or accreditation for the position
• If you are a skilled worker, you must demonstrate language competence at the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 5. That is sufficient proof if English or French is your first language. Even if their primary language is English or French, semi-skilled and low-skilled individuals must have test results to verify they meet CLB 4
• Show enough financial resources to successfully settle in Nova Scotia

The Express Entry stream of the Nova Scotia Experience chooses highly skilled individuals who wish to live in Nova Scotia permanently. Applicants must have worked in a high-skilled occupation in Nova Scotia for at least one year.

ELIGIBILITY

In order to apply you must

• Have at least 1 year of work experience in Nova Scotia.
• Be 21 to 55 years old
• Have a Canadian high school credential or equivalent
• Prove language ability in English or French on the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB). You need CLB 7 for skilled work in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 0 and A. You need CLB 5 for NOC B positions
• Have a profile registered in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Express Entry system

The Jobs in Demand stream focuses on NOC C and D occupations that are in great demand in Nova Scotia's labour market. The Office of Immigration defines in-demand occupations based on labour market data, and the list of qualified occupations is constantly changing.

• Have a full-time permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer in either NOC 3413 (Nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates), NOC 7511 (Transport truck drivers), NOC 7521 (Heavy equipment operators (except crane)), or NOC 7611 (Nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates), or NOC 7611 (Nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates) (Construction trades helpers and labourers)
• Have one year of work experience in a job-related field
• Be between the ages of 21 and 55
• Have a high school diploma
• Possess the necessary training, skills, and/or accreditation for the position
• Even if your first language is English or French, demonstrate language proficiency equal to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 4
• Demonstrate that you have the financial resources to settle in Nova Scotia

International Graduates In Demand

Recent overseas graduates whose abilities and education fit particular National Occupational Classification (NOC) job categories are eligible for the International Graduates in Demand stream. Workers in two NOC job categories are currently eligible for this stream:

• NOC 3413: nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates
• NOC 4214: early childhood educators and assistants

ELIGIBILITY

In order to apply you must

• Afull-time permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer in one of the above-mentioned job categories that corresponds to your recent subject of study
• Be between the ages of 21 and 55
• Adiploma from a high school
• Within three years of your application, you have satisfied the prerequisites for completing a programme of study The programme has to have lasted at least 30 weeks. In Nova Scotia, you must have completed at least half of the curriculum
• Certificates given by regulatory agencies in Nova Scotia are required for employment
• Even if your first language is English or French, demonstrate language ability equal to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 5
• Demonstrate that you have the financial resources to settle in Nova Scotia.
