The Global Talent Stream (GTS) is a two-year pilot collaboration between Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) that began in June 2017. Employers who complete the programme successfully will be allowed to use the Global Skills Strategy to speed up the hiring process for foreign nationals.
According to figures released in , almost 40,000 foreign employees entered Canada through the GTS in the first two years. In addition, the stream has been used by over 1,100 Canadian firms to recruit exceptional foreign workers.
This initiative was created to assist Canadian businesses in locating external talent and overcoming a scarcity of local tech skills. Companies can swiftly fill their skill requirements via this arrangement. The time it takes to process a visa has been lowered from six months to just ten business days. This also aids candidates in receiving a prompt reply to their application.
