Alberta outperforms the rest of the country when it comes to the best locations to live in Canada.
Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence in Alberta. Nominees must have skills to fill job shortages or be planning to buy or start a business in Alberta. They must also be able to provide for their families. The program is run by the governments of Alberta and Canada.
If you are nominated through the program, you may apply for permanent residence status together with your spouse or common-law partner, and dependent children.
An AINP nomination is available to qualified applicants who live and work in Alberta and have a job offer from an Alberta business.
Temporary foreign employees who are already working full-time in Alberta and have a full-time job offer from an Alberta employer in an appropriate occupation are eligible for the Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS). Candidates must have a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or be in possession of one of the approved LMIA exemption work permits.
Other minimal eligibility criteria include residency and work permit type, occupation, language, education, Alberta employment offer, and work experience.
AINP may invite qualified candidates with an Express Entry profile to seek permanent residency nomination.
The Alberta Express Entry Stream permits Alberta to nominate a limited number of qualifying candidates through the Express Entry system of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada.
Candidates who have established significant ties to Alberta or who can help the government achieve its economic development and diversification goals may be requested to apply.
This stream may also require international graduates from Canadian post-secondary institutions to apply.
Individuals with farming skills and personal wealth who want to own and expand a farm in Alberta can apply for permanent residency through this stream. Farm owners/operators who want to purchase and run their farming business in Alberta are successful applicants.
This stream requires applicants to demonstrate their farm management skills as well as their financial means to back up their investment plans.
Foreign graduates from outside of Canada can apply for permanent residence.
The Foreign Graduate Start-Up Visa Stream (FGSVS) is an economic immigration programme for qualifying foreign educated graduates from outside of Canada who desire to start firms in Alberta.
International graduates of Alberta post-secondary institutions are eligible to apply for permanent residence in the province.
The International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream (IGEIS) permits Alberta to propose qualified international graduates from Alberta post-secondary schools who desire to start or run a business in the province.
